the beauty reality check

the beauty reality check

I couldn't help but feel compelled to address society's beauty cult and initiate an honest conversation about self-love, self-acceptance, and the conscious choice to fall in love with ourselves.

Let's face it, there are moments when we doubt whether we genuinely like what we see in the mirror. We question if the reflection staring back at us truly reflects our inner beauty. This constant struggle takes its toll on our mental and emotional well-being.

Trust me, I've been there, battling my own insecurities and wrestling with confidence. But here's the thing—I've made a conscious decision to commit myself to constant growth. It's high time we hit that pause button and wholeheartedly embrace our true selves, flaws and all. Let's acknowledge that these flaws we perceive come from both within and from the pressure of conforming to the beauty cult's standards. But guess what? That's okay. We are beautifully flawed, and it's time we start celebrating that fact.

Anyone not on the board can exit stage left.

The key to improvement lies in nurturing our mental well-being. We often get caught up in comparing ourselves to others, neglecting our own mental health in the process. It's high time we shift our focus and prioritize taking care of our minds. Understanding why we respond the way we do and establishing a spiritual connection with the Creator, who loves us unconditionally, are crucial steps towards finding inner peace.

Emotionally, we need to dig deep and understand the root causes of our insecurities. Letting go of the things beyond our control and focusing only on our personal growth and happiness. It's time to break free from the toxic narratives and societal pressures that weigh us down.

Taking care of our physical health is equally important. We must not ignore this aspect, as it can lead us to resort to risky practices in pursuit of society's standards. Making conscious choices, even if they require discomfort or going against the norm, is necessary for our long-term health and well-being. We should resist the allure of quick fixes and embrace measures that promote long term health.

Because let's be real - those who have chosen quick fixes often lack the determination and discipline required for long-term maintenance. While they may see temporary results, the question remains: what about five years from now? Nature has its way of taking its course, affecting us all. So, what happens when the effects wear off? The harmful cycle of constant modifications and fixes continues, no?

Exactly.

Every day, we must invest in understanding ourselves better. Surrounding ourselves with people who appreciate our true beauty, shower us with physical, mental, emotional and spiritual love. Someone who offers forehead kisses and make us feel special. While on the flip side, distancing ourselves from those who play with our insecurities and perpetuate toxic and harmful relationships, situationships and cycles of disrespect.

We must liberate ourselves from the chains of seeking external validation and redefine our own standards of beauty. By walking in our own light, embracing our individuality, and finding genuine satisfaction within ourselves, we become empowered to be everything we want to be.

But, I can I be honest though? Like can I really? Even if I said it you wouldn’t believe it. Well here it is. External appearance alone holds no value if it lacks substance.

It's a shocking revelation, isn't it?

While physical attractiveness may initially capture someone's attention, it pales in comparison to qualities like intelligence, personality, wit, charm, good energy, and compassion. These are the traits that matter. We must acknowledge this undeniable fact, even if we tend to deny it all too often. And let's spare a thought for those individuals who are chosen solely for their looks, only to become a mere means to carry someone else's children. It's a sad reality where their worth is reduced to a superficial desire, lacking the foundation for a fulfilling and meaningful relationship.

It's a common issue that many "good-looking" people face, wasting their time being objectified and used for temporary gratification. If you doubt the prevalence of this problem, I invite you to watch this eye-opening video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3uy8zo318k. It sheds light on the harsh realities that can arise from prioritizing appearances over substance.

Nonetheless, my intention is not to uplift ourselves by tearing others down. Rather, I aim to shed light on the fact that everyone, in some shape or form, experiences struggles. We are all navigating the challenges of self-acceptance and dealing with societal beauty standards in our own unique ways.

Anyway, in conclusion, this exchange is about embracing self-love, challenging the beauty cult, and reclaiming our individuality. It's time to release the pressures and insecurities imposed by society. We have to wake up one day and want this for ourselves, walking in that light and with that intention moving forward. Regardless of the past, we can choose this path moving forward.

It's time to fall in love with yourself again and with that said here are some tips to help you on this "falling in love with yourself" journey:

  1. Reject societal standards: Refuse to conform to society's narrow definition of beauty. Embrace your unique features and let go of the pressure to fit into a predetermined mold.
  2. Challenge comparison: Stop comparing yourself to others. Comparison only fuels insecurities and undermines your self-worth. Focus on your own journey and celebrate your individuality.
  3. Cut toxic influences: Eliminate toxic people and environments that perpetuate negative body image and beauty ideals. Surround yourself with supportive and empowering individuals who uplift you.

  4. Unplug: Take breaks from social media and platforms that promote unrealistic beauty standards. Remember that curated online personas often don't reflect reality. Invest your time in activities that nurture your self-esteem and well-being.

  5. Embrace imperfections: Embrace your flaws and imperfections as part of what makes you unique. They are a testament to your authenticity and should be celebrated, not hidden or fixed.

  6. Prioritize self-care, not self-sacrifice: Put yourself first and prioritize your well-being. Engage in activities that nourish your mind, body, and soul. Make self-care a non-negotiable part of your routine.

  7. Challenge beauty norms: Refuse to conform to the narrow beauty standards set by society. Experiment with different styles, embrace unconventional beauty, and redefine what it means to be beautiful on your terms.

  8. Practice self-compassion: Treat yourself with kindness and compassion. Instead of criticizing yourself, offer understanding and support. Treat your body and mind with the love and care they deserve.

  9. Surround yourself with body-positive influences: Seek out body-positive role models, influencers, and communities that promote self-acceptance and celebrate diverse bodies. Surround yourself with empowering messages that uplift and inspire you.

  10. Embrace your power: Recognize that your worth extends far beyond your physical appearance. Embrace your talents, strengths, and unique qualities. Celebrate the power and potential that reside within you.

  11. Break the mold: Refuse to Conform to Society's Beauty Standards - Don't let society dictate what beauty should look like. Be unapologetically yourself and challenge the notion of conformity. Embrace your unique qualities and stand tall in your individuality. Reject the pressure to fit into a narrow box and redefine beauty on your own terms.

I hope this helps someone.

Peace and love ya'll.
